A MESSAGE FROM KAYLA

e5a0172b-8d38-465c-8f37-7dd88766206d.JPG

Hello, My Fabulous and Fierce Farwest Sorors!

I am Kayla Williams, a Fall 2025 initiate of Pi Chapter (University of California, Los Angeles) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a Farwest Leg4cy,  and your slated candidate for the 2026-2028 Farwest Regional Representative position.

Sorors, from the inception of our Sorority, we have known that service is key. Our service is as diverse and vast as our global sisterhood, which is exemplified within over 1,000 chapters.

After initiation, it becomes immediately clear that it is not about what our beloved Sorority can do for us, but how we can SERVE our sisterhood and the communities around us for a lifetime. The question now becomes: how are we preparing our collegiate sorors for that lifetime commitment?

Some collegiate sorors may not immediately transition into an alumnae chapter, oftentimes due to financial insecurity. The absence of a seamless transition affects sorors’ ability to SERVE side by side within our sisterhood as One Delta.

As your slated candidate for the 2026-2028 Farwest Regional Representative position, my vision is to continually acknowledge that service is at the heart of what we do, not only for our communities, but for our SORORS too. I hope to improve access to necessary resources for collegiate sorors, so that we can SERVE our campuses and broader communities with excellence.

My plan is to S.E.R.V.E. (Service. Engagement. Resources. Visibility. Empowerment.). S.E.R.V.E. provides our region with initiatives in the areas of constructive, economic, and political development to ensure that collegiate sorors have access to all the necessary resources to SERVE our beloved Sorority.

If our collegiate sorors are mentally overwhelmed, lack connections within their career field, are underrepresented within the current political climate, or do not know how to financially navigate our economy, then how have we prepared sorors to SERVE? These are not new issues for sorors but they are at the forefront of pressing issues for our collegiate sorors as they balance their personal, academic, and chapter responsibilities.

In our current political, economic, and social environment , Black women’s needs are not addressed. Therefore, our service and sisterhood are paramount and must be sustained. I ask that you join me on my mission to S.E.R.V.E. our sisterhood, S.E.R.V.E. the Farwest and S.E.R.V.E. our collegiate sorors.

For more information on my campaign, please feel to explore the pages on this website. If you would also like to support my campaign (donating, receiving a monthly newsletter, hosting meet and greets, etc.), please feel free to fill out this form

Sorors, I thank you in advance for your consideration and assistance. Let us be a part of a movement that continues to S.E.R.V.E.!

Yours in Delta,

Kayla Williams

S.E.R.V.E. WITH KAYLA

Sorors, per my application, I listed seven examples of what I hoped to accomplish if given the opportunity to become the 2026-2028 Farwest Regional Representative. These examples are exemplified through a variety of resources I would hope to provide sorors within the Farwest to help SERVE our Sisterhood, SERVE the Farwest, and SERVE our  collegiate Sorors.

Economic Education and Advancement Resources

Investment REaDy providescollegiates with the economic education to thrive, while Vivian's House Endowment Fund sets collegiate chapters up for financial success and longevity.

Constructive Development Resources

Farwest Connect would ensure that the collegiate and alumnae sorors could connect through monthly and local networking nights as well as a supplemental professional directory. Delta Links would provide collegiate sorors with a safe space to address conflicts, find Sisterhood and provide them with management strategies.

Artistic and Political Involvement Resources

The Call for Collegiate Talent at Regional Events allows us to reflect our sisterhood through artistic expression.

The Collegiates in Action Forum ensures that sorors have an outlet to educate each other on political demonstrations on their campuses as a part of our Social Action efforts.

SERVICE WITH SORORS

MY EXPERIENCE

WHY  YOU SHOULD  S.E.R.V.E. WITH KAYLA?

1c622fbf-5e62-4366-9a87-461af1acb324.JPG

Sorors, my leadership is always guided by these four things:  integrity, intention, innovation, and communication. In every leadership role that I have held, I led with integrity and communication, holding myself to the highest standard and remaining in communication with those who I serve to ensure that their needs are met. The leadership skills that I have received outside of Delta have only strengthened within my time within our sisterhood.

I have a clear plan and vision to carry the torch of those before me and continue to ensure sorors are equipped with the resources necessary to continue the legacy of the Farwest Region. As demonstrated within my platform, I will not only lead with intention, but with innovation, analyzing our current initiatives, community outreach and internal communication avenues for the betterment of our Farwest sorors. I plan to lead with NO excuses and with accountability for my actions.

My intentions as I pursue the position of Farwest Regional Representative are best summarized by the words of 15th National President, Lillian Pierce Benbow: “When I look at you, I see myself”. That means that I not only see you, my sorors, as Black women, as college educated women, but as sisters who I want to advocate for. I believe in intentionally improving our region so it is not only a reflection of our sisterhood, but a reflection of the needs of Farwest sorors as a whole. To be a Regional Representative is to know that you are your sister’s keeper, which I have demonstrated through the careful thought of my  S.E.R.V.E. platform. That is why I should be elected as your 2026-2028 Farwest Regional Representative.
